SOCRATES, a highly knowledgeable philosopher was once asked by a fellow, “Do you know what I have just heard about your friend?” Socrates said, ” Hold ! Before you tell me the thing you need to pass the Triple Filter Test.”
The first filter is the Truth. Are you sure what you are going to tell me is true? The man said, “I am not sure.”
The second filter is goodness. Do you think you are telling me anything good of him? He said, no. So, you are going to tell something bad about him and you are not certain that it is true. Anyways, you may still pass the test.
The third filter is of usefulness. What you are going to tell me about is it useful to me? No, not really. Said the man.
Socrates concluded, ” Well, if you want to talk me neither true not good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”
To kill our boredom we can have loose talks but not at the cost of our friends and closed ones. Stay away from gossips. As those who gossip to you can gossip about you!
